Postponed Weddings

With the distressed housing market on the rise some couples are opting to postpone their wedding and put their investments into a new home using what would have been their wedding fund.
The overall impact of this is, engaged couples will eventually get married whether it be in a year or two giving themselves enough time to save money for their big event.
As a Wedding Planner I am prepared to deal with this rise in the wedding economic issues we face. I often tell my bride and groom to be, that honesty is the best policy. When having the initial consultation (which is usually free) I try to get the feel of the couple, their vision and the reality of it all. If at a later date the couple oppted to postponing their wedding day my advise to the bride and groom is to keep them on my list and as time goes on they will be updated (usually via e-mail) with the latest trends and offers that will be beneficial to them at a later date. While some planners prefer not to be bothered until there is a set date for the wedding, we got to remember that there is still hope. Longevity on the couples’ part is securing a safe haven for themselves after the celebration.
When the time is right a beautiful wedding celebration will be thoroughly planned leaving everyone happy and contented and the couple can go on to live life in their dream home.
There are however the bride and groom that just want to get over their big day, honeymoon and then think about investing in a home after taking care of all their wedding expenses. This too is usually a great way of thinking as to elevate the burden of extra bills on top of a mortage payment.
